Darwin

Very little to report this week.  No holiday photos to share.
Garry has worked at the Hardware which has appeared in todays paper in the Business For Sale section.
Carol has continued with her sewing and craft making with many new dresses, head bands and hair clips now assembled for sale.  She is going to have a stall at the Nightcliff Markets on Sunday to see how things sell.

We continue to work at the races with the Darwin Cup Carnival picking up pace.  Today was busier than last week and the fields of horses in the locals are increasing in size.  Apparently horses like moving north for the winter as well as grey nomads as there are a number of southern state trainers and horses in town.
Our new friends Ted and Linda bought a share in a horse and it had its first run today for a 5th.  Ted will be a little disappointed as he was very excited about watching it.  A local horse won quite easily and it was the favourite even though Ted's horse was heavily backed in.  It has 2 more starts in the Carnival so we will see how it goes in a couple of weeks.
We continue to enjoy the warm weather with the days requiring a fan and shade.  The nights are just starting to cool off but we haven't needed more than a blanket yet.  The night skys are often lit up with bushfires and the smoke is thick across the sunsets but it blows away quickly in the breeze.  The locals at work are now regularly talking about the "build up" starting in a few weeks.  We have not seen a drop of rain in the 5 weeks we have been here.
Till next week...
p.s. Forget to mention that Julia visited us this week.  Apart from a small fire started in her unit block by someone accidently aiming a cracker at it, there is no excitment to report and the carbon (ash) continues to land on our annex roof even though the carbon Tax started a week ago!!!
